Paradigm Engineering offers extensive 3D
mold design services ranging from simple parting line splits to full
3D mold assemblies using Pro/Engineer.
3D Mold Design is a natural extension of part modeling. After creation of the part as a 3D parametric solid, the appropriate mold shrinkage is added to the part model and the mold design is then created - from the inside out.
First, the mold parting lines are established and core and cavity models are created. All mold surfaces, which contact the part are created using original component part model. The parametric relationship between the part model and the individual mold component models is maintained. Modifications to the original part design can be quickly and easily incorporated into the mold design.
Supporting mold components such as inserts, slides and lifters are then created. Cooling lines, runner systems, gates, and ejection components are added to the core and cavity models as required. Finally, a 3-D mold base is added o the existing 3-D assembly.
By creating mold components as 3D solid models, CNC cutter path can be programmed directly from the resulting geometry using Pro/Engineer. IGES surface and wire frame models can be exported for CNC cutter path generation from other software packages. 2-D references and detail drawings are finalized in Pro/E or exported to a variety of other CAD packages.
Paradigm Engineering routinely delivers 3D Mold Designs and individual component models of cores, cavities, slide faces, and EDM electrodes to mold makers for CNC programming.
