Thread Painting Hoops are designed
specifically for using the popular thread painting technique. Lovely results can be achieved easily, even if you are new to free motion work!
Free motion quilting "guides" don't hold the quilt sandwich - they only grasp the top, and the rubber on the bottom doesn't adhere very well. The tongue-in-groove style hoop pops out all the time - very frustrating. We developed a hoop that is designed especially for quilting applications. Oblong Thread Painting/Free Motion Hoop For thread painting, pinning doesn't work. A hoop is critical to holding everything precisely in place as you work. The hoop must also have a low enough profile to slide under the presser foot easily. The oblong hoop allows the quilter to move closer to the edges with fewer hoop adjustments, and has an expansion range appropriate to the quilt sandwich.
